
If there was *one* topic that universally appeals to toddlers and preschoolers all over the world, it would be animals. I’ve never met a child who wasn’t interested in animals, so it’s the perfect topic to incorporate on your Montessori workshelves! Here are some ways to do it:
Practical Life / Fine Motor
Put out an animal washing work! Put a toy animal on a tray along with a spray bottle of water and a toothbrush. Show the child how to spray the animal, then scrub it with the toothbrush.
My favorite animals to use for Montessori work are any of the Safari Ltd. animals!
Art
For some art appreciation work, go to an art museum and see what animals you can find in paintings!
