Montessori-Inspired Work to Do Outside in Fall

What if I told you that your Montessori learning doesn’t have to stay inside the classroom? It doesn’t! You can apply the same Montessori principles that you use in your classroom or homeschool space to the great outdoors, and there are so many ways to do Montessori-inspired work outside in the Fall. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Leaf raking (Practical Life)
  • Leaf matching by shape or type of leaf (Language/Science)
  • Leaf color sorting (Sensorial)
  • Leaf sorting by number of lobes (Science/Math)
  • Using nature objects as math counters (Math)
  • Going on a scavenger hunt and matching to pictures of fall objects (Language)
  • Sorting nature objects by rough vs. smooth (Sensorial)
  • Apple dissection and labeling the parts (Science)
  • Pumpkin dissection and labeling the parts (Science)
  • Pumpkin scrubbing (Practical Life)
  • Pumpkin Painting (Art)
  • Hammering nails into a pumpkin (Practical Life)

The bonus to doing these things outside? Easy clean up!
