My Printable Pals chose some word building puzzles for their June printable, and we decided on 10 different themes! The puzzles are divided into pink, blue, and green series words. A few of the words repeat across themes (there are only so many pink series/CVC words out there!), but they all have different pictures. Pre-readers can complete the puzzles just using the pictures. Here are the themes we ended up choosing:
- Sports (30 puzzles)
- Nature (30 puzzles)
- Gardening (24 puzzles)
- In the Kitchen (28 puzzles)
- Camping (26 puzzles)
- Picnic/BBQ (16 puzzles)
- Summer (24 puzzles)
- Fall (16 puzzles)
- Winter (16 puzzles)
- Spring (16 puzzles)
When you’re first presenting a puzzle (especially for a beginning reader), just put out one. Mix up the pieces and slowly put them together, sounding out each letter as you do. As they get more advanced, you can put out a few at a time.
