My best printables are inspired by my own children, and this series of sentence strips is no different! My first daughter did not need them — she immediately took off reading once she knew the letter sounds and never looked back. My second daughter needed more encouragement and to gain self-confidence through shorter bits of reading, so I created these sentence strips just for her.

The first level in word building/reading that many Montessori environments use is called the pink series, so we started there. These are simple CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant) that sound exactly the way they look. These pink series sentence strips are available in my Etsy shop (and find them in cursive HERE).

Once that’s mastered, the next step is the blue series — adding consonant blends at the beginnings and ends of words. These blue series sentence strips are available in my Etsy shop (and find them in cursive HERE).

When I created the first two, I never imagined needing to make green series sentence strips — the most difficult level, adding vowel blends and the rest of the illogical English language. But Nora is suddenly a voracious reader, and she needed more challenging work. So I added these green series sentence strips to my Etsy shop (and find them in cursive HERE).
