My own children mastered the bead bars long ago, but their beautiful colors and the feel of the beads in your hand make them one of our favorite Montessori materials. The main purpose is for counting and associating number with quantity. Since my girls already have the colors of the different bead bars memorized, I decided to make some bead bar design templates to have some fun with them!

I made four different scenes — some flowers with a butterfly, a house, a large butterfly, and a mandala. Nora found the cards beside the bead bars and immediately wanted to try to recreate them! You could also take pictures of scenes your students have created to make your own cards… but if you’d rather use mine, you’re welcome to them!
