It’s okay to have your own limits. You’re allowed to say “no” to your kid for no reason other than that you really don’t want to do whatever it is. Maybe it’s something that drives you up the wall. Maybe it stresses you out. Maybe you’re tired. Or maybe you just don’t like it. Being a mom doesn’t mean you have to do it all and be it all.
Oh, how I love book making! It’s such a fun way to extend a traditional material or assess how much your child has retained, and kids love showing off their books to family members!
A few months ago, I took a poll on Instagram asking people to name some Montessori buzzwords, and “follow the child” was the number one answer when it came to terms that people didn’t fully understand or were unsure of how to practically apply in their homeschool environment. So I created a quick 10 minute FREE webinar with 3 ways to apply Maria Montessori’s most important directive in your homeschool environment.
Labeling some parts of a steam locomotive! This little boy is a big fan of trains, and his mom told me that he was absolutely delighted with the Parts of a Steam Locomotive cards from my Montessori Vehicle Anatomy pack. She said, “He matched the cards and created a book. He did get tired of writing the parts, so he switched to a label maker for the rest. Now he wants to make a train poster and label all the parts!” What a great idea to use a label maker, and I absolutely love that this material inspired a larger work of creating a train poster!
Number one tip for resetting a rough day and getting everyone back on track: water + bubbles.
Geometric solid scavenger hunt around the classroom – a great way to bring in some whole body movement and apply this concept to the real world! We had a surprisingly large number of cylinders, which Nora insisted on calling “key-linders” in an act of resistance again the English language.
