I was working on Prepositions of Place with one of my youngest ESL students, and I wanted to find a material that would grab his interest. He’s very interested in vehicles, but I couldn’t find any preposition materials featuring them… so I made my own!

This free printable set of Vehicle Prepositions of Place cards comes with two versions — cards that have just the preposition on them, as well as cards that have a full sentence with the prepositional phrase in bold. Everything in the picture is relative to the dump truck, with the following prepositional phrases included: in, on, on top of, below, under, next to, beside, behind, between, above, and in front of. The funniest thing is that as soon as I brought these out to use with my student, he solemnly informed me that he doesn’t like dump trucks! So hopefully this will fill the void for some of you who DO have students who like dump trucks… Ha!
