Now that L has mastered the most concrete materials on our language shelf, it’s time to move on to the abstract. Most young children are fascinated by animals, so I created this concept matching activity for L to match the animals to where they spend the most time — the way I word it is “where the animals move,” since they don’t necessarily live in the sky.
I first laid out the cards with land, sky, and sea. I took an animal from the bin [we love these ones: jungle animals, insects, ocean animals] and we talked about where it moves before placing it on the correct card. We then repeated that with each of the other animals. Now when L is working with this by herself I can hear her talking to herself about where the animals move — it’s so cute!
***Free Printable Here*** I printed these on regular paper and then glued them to different colored cardstock backgrounds. I also laminated mine, but that’s not required — I just love my laminator. 🙂
