Date Night In Box — Review & Coupon Code [July 2018]

Believe it or not, Maria Montessori wrote quite a bit about the importance of the inner preparation of the adult who interacts with children.  I don’t know about you, but that is one of the most difficult parts of the Montessori philosophy for me to practice.  Between taking care of two young children, moving an hour away, setting up a new environment, and facilitating my blog and consulting schedules, time to spend on personal development is pretty far down on my to-do list.  And time with my husband that is ONLY about us and our relationship and not about what we need to do to get the house ready/how the kids are doing/whose turn it is to do the dishes can often seem non-existent — so I was super excited to find this  Night In Box company to make our time together happen more often!

The best part of the Date Night In Box [for me] is that the whole thing arrives in a pretty box on your doorstep — no planning involved.  Some of the obstacles that keep us from having date nights more frequently include having to find a babysitter, preparing the kids for a babysitter, trusting a babysitter, paying for a babysitter, and then actually thinking of something to do and going out to do it.  None of that is a problem with the Date Night In Box!

And it’s amazing how much they can fit in that box — it was easily a few hours of date night fun, all put together with an itinerary to walk you through the entire date.  There was a full menu included [optional, but I recommend following it!] as well as topics of conversation, drink mixers, games, and even a music playlist.

We were too excited to eat to remember to take pictures of the meal, but here’s an IG story I posted right before we began:

One of my Instagram followers actually messaged me after that story to say that she and her husband had just done the July Date Night In Box and it was their favorite one yet!  This was our first so I don’t know if it will be our favorite, but it was definitely so much fun and got us out of our usual put-the-kids-to-bed-and-watch-tv routine.

I thought that following the itinerary might feel a bit forced, but it was actually really fun and got us talking about things we haven’t talked about in a while — especially since having kids!

Overall, we had tons of fun and are already looking forward to the next one — although we might have to wait an extra month because Night In Boxes also has a box for children called Kids Night In Boxes, and I think we’ll be trying that one next!

Check out the themes of the boxes for next month along with a coupon code below!

Have fun, and don’t forget to take some time to reconnect with your partner and prepare your inner being since you need all your energy taking care of those kids all day!
