I often see the seasons represented in sequencing works, and it always rubs me the wrong way.  The seasons don’t go winter, spring, summer, fall, and then just stop.  They continue to change!  It’s cyclical, not linear.  I found a great image of the seasons portrayed in a linear sequence, so I adjusted it to show the cyclical nature of the seasons instead.

I put together a blank chart of the seasons as a cycle, then printed out one tree for each season.  I have the names of each season printed on the chart as a control — the child can match the word written on the season card to its correct square on the chart.

I attached velcro dots to the back of each card and to the chart so the cards would stay in place.  This is a simple way to show the cyclical nature of the changing of the seasons, and also works on pre-reading skills as we match words as patterns.

Click on the link for your free printable of  the Seasons of the Year Cycle!  Cut out each of the cards with pictures.  Leave the cycle chart whole.  Laminate each piece for durability.  Velcro dots optional, but recommended for younger preschoolers.
